One has to learn the art of looking, observing.

– Jiddu Krishnamurti

Understanding Your Mind

This explanation will help you understand that your mind has a variety of characteristics that are decidedly different from each other. Especially important is natural unfoldment, in which things come into your mind without your conscious intention to have them come.

Nature of Your Mind

We use our minds effortlessly, without straining to think or remember. We developed our minds from having very limited ability in infancy, to having a rich array of abilities in adulthood that we use adeptly.

Intention
The director of our minds is our intention. We intend to recall a memory and it miraculously comes to us, in much the same form as it was when it was formed by experience. We intend to create something new, and novel thoughts come to us. We intend to lift an arm and the body obeys the mind’s command immediately. Using our intention, we navigate through life and learn the lessons we are to learn in Earth school.

Unintentional Images, Thoughts, Feelings, Bodily Sensations, and Messages
However, some of what comes into the mind comes without our intention. Unintended images, thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and messages come in deep-sleep dreams, hypnogogic dreaming (when half awake), inspirations or flashes of insight, notions, and inspirations. They unfold without our intention to have them come. This entry into our minds is termed free unfoldment. We don’t control free unfoldment. Our language has a number of words or phrases to describe their coming to us, because they’re so common. We might describe their coming to us by saying “It just came to me” or “I suddenly realized” or “I had a flash of inspiration” or “the light bulb went on.”

We have these freely unfolding images, thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and messages all the time, and so we believe they’re coming from inside our minds somehow. We call them “my imagination.” We have words for this belief that we created these unusual insights: “I thought it up” or “I imagined it,” or “I dreamed it up.” But neuroscience has no explanation for how something that wasn’t in our memory or experience could suddenly come to us. The reason it can’t be explained is that these unusual insights don’t come from us. They come from some source outside of our minds.

Our minds, as part of Our Universal Intelligence, the Source, or the mind of God, never ceases from creating. As a result, when you quiet your thoughts, your mind will go on creating. You will make associations between the things going through your mind and other things. Those other things will come. However, even though it comes in a stream, it isn’t “my imagination.” We have nothing to do with the creation.

When you open to all those images and  thoughts that  unfold naturally, you become open to messages from your loved ones, guides, higher selves, and the Source. They all communicate with us regularly, throughout the day. We just have to allow the messages to unfold in our conscious minds.

You Have to Learn to Acknowledge and Process the Natural Unfoldment

The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.

– Albert Einstein

We receive these images, thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and messages regularly, throughout the day. However, as a culture, we have lost the ability to acknowledge and process them. It’s easier to do so when we’re being creative, because we want these inspirations that we call “my imagination.” However, in the rest or our lives, we reject the natural unfoldments. We regard them as irrational and unreliable. “It was just my imagination,” we say.

But these unfolding images, thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and messages that are unexpected and outside of our normal thinking are coming from our loved ones, guides, higher selves, and the Source. We are taught by our society not to regard the messages as real or valid, so we don’t listen to them, and we miss many messages from our loved ones, guides, higher selves, and the Source.

Aphantasia

If you don’t see images when you close your eyes and try to imagine something, you may have aphantasia, the inability to have mental pictures. The phenomenon is very common and doesn’t interfere with the person’s life. Learn more about aphantasia at https://www.earthschoolanswers.com/aphantasia/. You may also have vaguer, blurred images. That is also a common visualizing experience. You can test your ability to visualize at the same webpage.

If you have aphantasia or blurred images, you will still have all the experiences of an afterlife communication. It won’t interfere with your connection to your loved one. There will just be a difference in having visual experiences. You will have rich, fulfilling knowledge that you’re having the experience. You will just know it. That feeling of just knowing is completely and fully the same as having visuals.

You Must Have No Expectations

We hope that this procedure eventually will enable you to connect with your loved one. You may have read the accounts of people who have had successful connections. However, successful connections require patience and time. You must not go into your first experiences expecting a full-blown connection. If you anticipate a connection, that will block the flow of natural unfoldment that eventually will result in the connection. You must be willing for the entire session to be receiving impressions, images, and other experiences that don’t seem to have any meaning. You must allow them to come in their own time, in their own way. When you’re getting images or impressions that aren’t meaningful, don’t think “But where is she? I want to connect and she’s not here!” That will shut down the natural unfolding and you will actually block your own connection. The meaningless experiences are part of the process.

Practice Allowing Free Unfoldment

Go through a short practice of allowing free unfoldment. It will show you how you must let go to allow the messages to come through. Link to https://afterlifeinstitute.org/learn-how-to-allow-unfolding-messages-from-the-afterlife/

Practice Having Mental Experiences with No Expectations

The next step is for you to get used to having connections in play-acting in your mind without having expectations. For this exercise, sit quietly where you won’t be disturbed, close your eyes, and relax. When you are fully relaxed, imagine someone you know walking through the door. Allow a free dialogue. Be ready for anything strange and bizarre. Allow it to unfold without your controlling what happens or what the person says. Your goal is to let go completely and allow a stream of events and dialogue. Try this until you’re able to let go completely and the events and communication flow without your control.

If nothing happens, you’re not yet able to allow events and communication to flow. Relax and practice having someone come through the door and say something. You respond. Just do that. You’ll see that the communication comes naturally, without your control. Practice doing that and eventually let that roll into a dialogue.

When you’re fully able to allow the dialogue and events to flow, you’re ready for the next steps.

Prepare Yourself for the Guided Mental Exercises

Now that you’re able to allow events and dialogue flow in a daydream, you’re ready to practice with a guided experience. During the experience, you must allow whatever happens to happen, regardless of the source. Imagine your inner world’s messages in these levels:

Level 1 – You intend to remember or you intend to create something from your imagination. That’s clear. You know when that’s happening.

Level 2 – You are not intending for anything to come and something you were not expecting comes into your mind. That is coming from some source outside of  your conscious mind. It could be a guide, your Higher Self, your Soul, your loved one, or any of a number of other sources. YOU DON’T KNOW. You just know it’s not coming from your conscious mind that is remembering or creating from imagination. It’s from some other source. Even if you wish something would happen, if you didn’t intend for it to come to you, it’s not coming from your conscious mind.

This is the principle you must know about your mind. There’s no little you in your mind that’s intending for you to see or realize something and so is doing the job of intending to imagine something. That would be very odd. You could never depend on your assessment of reality because the strange little you could be making you think things all the time. When someone says, “It was just my imagination,” if they didn’t consciously intend for it to come to mind, it couldn’t be their imagination!

Level 3 – At the third level, you are getting spontaneous messages you know are from your loved one. You’ll know because they will come in casual conversations through telepathy. However, these are NOT coming from your intention to recall a memory or to create some imaginative picture or thought. You’re not in control of what comes to you.

You must not think something is your imagination if you are open and allowing things to come to you without consciously intending for them to come. If they just come to you, they are from some other source. At times, that will be your loved one in spirit. You must be open and go along for the ride wherever it takes you. Only then can you get messages from your loved one.

Counting Yourself Out of Relaxation

In this stage of the training, you will be asked to envision scenes. Stage 3 isn’t intended to make a connection. You’re still in training. Be open to anything other than a connection. However, some people do have connections. If you do have a connection or want to stay in the scenes, you can do so, because the meditation music continues for 30 minutes after the narrator stops speaking. All you have to do is stay relaxed with your eyes closed while the experience unfolds. Then emerge from the relaxation state when you’re ready by counting slowly from one to five. With each count, feel yourself coming out of the relaxation and back to the room. You might say these words to yourself:

One, I am ready to come out.

Two, I am becoming aware of my body sitting in the chair.

Three, I am becoming aware of the room around me.

Four, I am ready to open my eyes and end the session.

Five, I have opened my eyes and am completely back.

After you count yourself out, you don’t need to listen to the rest of the meditation music. Take the earphones off after you have counted yourself out of the relaxation.

Preparation for Activities

Set aside 15 to 30 minutes of time when you are in a quiet area without interruptions. Bring no cell phones to the area. Tell your family or others living with you that you are not to be disturbed. Wear comfortable clothing, preferably without belts or other restrictions. A jogging suit is ideal.

IMPORTANT: Don’t lie down. Don’t recline in a recliner. You may fall asleep, and you will not be able to have a connection. Sit upright in a chair. If you want to maximize the possibility of a connection, be rested and relaxed before the session. Don’t play three hours of tennis or engage in an argument with a utility company representative. Be relaxed, calm, and rested. Sit upright.

The relaxation inductions for Stage 3 are very short. You’re not going into a full meditation relaxation. If you’re accustomed to meditation, they will seem very short. These are just intended to relax you a little bit so you can go into the training experiences and come out after just a few minutes. You’ll have longer, deeper inductions in the later stages.

Reset If You Get Stuck

If you find yourself staring into the black, reset yourself by going to the last impressions you had. Review them in your mind and let things take off from there. If you had no previous impressions, start to daydream, but then let the daydream merge into unfoldment by letting go of what happens. If you’re getting no impressions, then you’re not being active. The impressions are there. They may be sights, knowings, feelings, and any of a variety of things. Look for them. They’re there.
